My Biography

Mike Gutter is a Jewish historian and antisemitism expert dedicated to dismantling hate groups and advocating for justice through truth and education.

He was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up with four remarkable sisters and two loving parents. He spent his middle and high school years in Pickerington, a suburb of Columbus.

A proud Jew, Mike found Columbus to be a welcoming and thriving community for Jews, building strong friendships with fellow Jewish students, even though they attended different schools. His experience with antisemitism was minimal, and he credits Columbus as a city filled with some of the kindest and most respectful people he’s ever known.

After high school, Mike moved to Israel for about three years. Upon returning to the U.S., he enrolled at The Ohio State University.

In the early 1990s, Mike co-founded a recycling company with a friend, growing it into one of the largest in the country by the late 1990s and early 2000s. After exiting the business in 2009, following the financial crisis, he ventured into a new endeavor, purchasing a craft soda line with three partners in 2011, which remains his focus alongside writing.

Mike’s passion for writing has been lifelong, fueled by his love for non-fiction. His journey as a writer was catalyzed by a combination of personal experiences and his struggles with OCD, which at times gave him the focus and drive to immerse himself deeply in his work. His first major writing project was spurred by his frustration with the continued lies and misconceptions about Jews in the U.S. He combined thorough research with personal opinion to address antisemitism, a subject close to his heart.

Currently residing in Houston, Texas, Mike enjoys golfing, tennis, spending time by the pool, and continuing his writing projects. His creative ambitions include writing a Broadway musical, a screenplay, and a sitcom—of which he has already made significant progress on the musical.

Mike is planning another book, which will focus on the past, present, and future of American Jewry. As always, his work is grounded in meticulous research and insightful opinions. He hopes readers not only gain knowledge but feel compelled to take action with what they’ve learned.

Mike extends his gratitude to everyone who has contributed to his books, which he believes are long overdue and essential reading. He remains dedicated to shedding light on important issues such as racism, homophobia, and more, and hopes to inspire others to spread awareness.
